Solution Architect

Location: London or Manchester (Hybrid - 60% in office)

Salary: £75,000 - £105,000 + Bonus

This role requires, or the ability to gain, SC Clearance

About The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Solutions Architect to work on leading programs and leverage your passion for cutting-edge technologies to make a real-world impact. As a Solutions Architect, you'll design and deliver innovative business solutions, working end-to-end from CXO level through to delivery. At my client's company, you'll serve as a technical leader, using your production software development expertise to support and guide FTSE 100 clients. You'll also have access to the latest training and certifications, including AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with extensive in-house courses and a mentoring program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance architectures for diverse client projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather and analyse requirements, translating them into robust architectural solutions.
  • Lead technical workshops and discussions with stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment on solution design.
  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints and documentation for all solutions, ensuring they are kept up-to-date and accessible.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, guiding them through best practices in software engineering and architecture.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and performance optimisations to ensure high-quality, efficient solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on client projects and incorporating them where appropriate.
  • Manage and resolve technical issues that arise during the development and deployment phases, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and continuous delivery of solutions.
  • Support pre-sales activities by providing technical expertise, solution demonstrations, and contributing to proposal development.

Skills & Experience

  • A consistent track record in providing technical leadership in areas including application, business, and integration architectures.
  • Must be comfortable across all architecture domains and specialise in at least one of:
    • Business domain (e.g. CRM, eCommerce)
    • Sector
    • Technologies/vendors
  • Experience of performing solution options assessment, including product selection and analysis of patterns and sourcing approaches
  • The ability to deliver strategic thinking to stakeholders through Architecture Roadmaps, mentoring and technical thought leadership.
  • Working knowledge of architecture modelling tools and frameworks, e.g. UML, ArchiMate, etc.
  • An appreciation of the commercial, people and organisational aspects of your work
  • An appreciation of or exposure to emerging technologies and architectural trends, including, for example:
    • Microservices vs Packaged Solutions
    • Cloud vs On-premise
    • Digital transformation enablement
    • Cloud architectures, with experience of AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure
  • Broad span of vendors: IBM, Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, etc.
  • The architect’s role in agile delivery
  • Internet of Things
