Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to design the commercial architecture for a secure, scalable SaaS platform for the infrastructure and construction sector. A working prototype has already been developed and validated. The next phase is to define the production architecture before development begins.
The initial deployment will support a controlled two-site pilot, with the platform designed to scale to a national rollout.
This engagement is for architecture, security design, and technical specification only.
Proposed Technology Stack
The current technology approach includes:
- FlutterFlow (mobile and web applications)
- Xano or similar managed backend
- PostgreSQL database
- AWS cloud infrastructure
- GitHub for source control
We're open to alternative recommendations where they provide clear benefits in security, scalability, maintainability, or cost.
Key Platform Features
The platform will include:
- Worker and contractor registration
- Project and site management
- Digital inductions and daily briefings
- Site attendance and access records
- Competency and certification management
- Document and RAMS acknowledgements
- Incident and near-miss reporting
- Photo and document uploads
- Dashboards and reporting
- Role-based access control
- Mobile and web access
- Offline capability for low-connectivity sites (preferred)

Scope of Work
The successful contractor will:
- Review the existing prototype and workflows
- Validate or recommend improvements to the proposed architecture
- Design a secure multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Define the data model and permissions structure
- Design authentication and API architecture
- Recommend AWS services and infrastructure
- Define file storage, backup, logging, and disaster recovery
- Assess offline synchronisation requirements
- Identify technical risks and platform limitations
- Produce a detailed development-ready technical specification
- Create a roadmap for scaling from pilot to enterprise deployment

Required Experience
Applicants should have proven experience with:
- Multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- AWS cloud solutions
- Secure API design
- PostgreSQL or similar databases
- Mobile and web application architecture
- FlutterFlow, Flutter, Xano, Supabase, or similar platforms
- Identity and access management (RBAC)
- Security, audit logging, and GDPR compliance
- Offline-first application design
- Enterprise or infrastructure-related systems
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an independent senior architect or fractional CTO who can:
- Design practical, scalable solutions
- Understand the strengths and limitations of low-code platforms
- Challenge technical assumptions where appropriate
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Produce professional, implementation-ready documentation
