Solution Architect (Applications) for Microsoft Ecosystem
Lithium3 are looking for an experienced Solution Architect (applications and not infrastructure) to support a project focused on the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra, Power Platform and ideally Copilot.
This role will focus on application architecture, solution design and application integration, rather than infrastructure architecture.
- Compensation: £650 per day.
- Duration: 6 months initially.
- Work Schedule: Once per week in the office.
- Tax Status: Outside IR35.
About the Role
You will work closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, technical specialists and third-party suppliers to define solution designs, ensure applications work effectively together, and support the delivery of solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain application solution architectures across the Microsoft ecosystem, including M365, Azure/Entra, Power Platform and Copilot-related solutions.
- Translate business requirements and processes into application solution designs, architecture documentation and technical specifications.
- Design application integrations, considering APIs, data flows, interfaces, identity, authentication, SSO and dependencies between systems.
- Assess existing applications and business systems to identify opportunities for integration, optimisation, automation and modernisation.
- Ensure application solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, governance requirements and business objectives.
- Provide architectural guidance on Microsoft 365, Power Platform and SaaS application capabilities, including appropriate use of standard functionality versus bespoke development.
- Support the design and governance of AI-enabled applications and Copilot solutions, considering permissions, information protection, data residency, responsible AI and access controls.
- Work with project managers, business analysts, developers, vendors and systems integrators to ensure solutions are technically sound and deliverable.
- Review supplier proposals, solution designs and technical recommendations, ensuring they meet requirements and align with the wider application architecture.
- Support application testing, release planning and production readiness, including SIT, UAT, deployment dependencies and technical acceptance criteria.
- Define application support and service transition requirements, including operational ownership, support models, monitoring and BAU handover.
- Communicate architectural decisions, risks, dependencies and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
