About the Role
We are partnering with a specialist management consultancy to support a high-profile central government department in South Wales. This is an exciting, dual-purpose contract opportunity: you will lead the technical delivery of a critical publishing user journey built on top of an existing Microsoft Dynamics casework platform, while simultaneously acting as a trailblazer to test and embed generative AI tooling into the delivery lifecycle.
Phase 1 of the platform is already live, and Phase 2 is currently in Discovery. This initiative bridges the gap—solving an immediate operational pain point by removing manual publishing workarounds, while establishing robust architectural patterns and AI-driven accelerators that will inform the wider Phase 2 Alpha and Beta phases.
You will not be starting from a blank page. You’ll be taking an established Dynamics casework architecture, ensuring it scales securely, complies with stringent public sector standards, and adheres to core principles of reusability and common components.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide definitive technical and architectural leadership for the new multidisciplinary publishing team.
- Design and deliver a secure, compliant, and scalable end-to-end publishing user journey integrated within the existing Microsoft Dynamics casework platform.
- Champion design-for-reuse principles, ensuring common components are leveraged rather than building bespoke, isolated solutions.
- Spearhead the safe, practical exploration and integration of generative AI and AI-accelerated tooling to speed up delivery and prove out patterns for Phase 2.
- Ensure all engineering, security, and compliance decisions are robust enough to stand up as a blueprint for the broader programme.
- Collaborate closely and facilitatively with the client’s internal DDaT (Digital, Data, and Technology) teams, leading and influencing across the wider programme.
Key Experience & Capabilities
- Microsoft Dynamics Expertise: Strong architecture and technical leadership background specifically within Microsoft Dynamics, ideally with dedicated casework solution experience.
- Complex Case Management: Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale, complex case management solutions.
- Public Sector / Regulated Environments: Experience working within central government, public sector, or similarly heavily regulated environments (desirable).
- Enterprise Architecture Mindset: Deep understanding of secure-by-design principles, compliance, integration patterns, and component reuse.
- AI-Enabled Delivery: Comfort and familiarity with exploring how generative AI and AI tooling can be safely and effectively introduced to accelerate software delivery.
- Consultative Leadership: Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and collaborative leadership skills, able to influence senior stakeholders and upskill internal teams.

Contract Details
- Duration: 12 months
- Working Arrangement: Outside IR35, based on a competitive day rate commensurate with senior technical leadership. Hybrid working with approximately 2–3 days per month on-site in South Wales.
