Identity Architect – Secure Defence & Government Sector
Location: Wiltshire (Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite)
Employment Type: Permanent
Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance (Mandatory)

Are you a Senior or Lead Identity Architect with active SC clearance looking for a high-impact role in a secure environment? We are seeking an experienced Identity Architect to take complete ownership of end-to-end architecture across a large-scale, enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform supporting a critical public sector client.
This is a high-visibility position for a hands-on technical leader who can bridge the gap between strategic direction and technical delivery across engineering, data, service operations, and senior stakeholder groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture Leadership: Own the end-to-end IAM architecture across development, data, and live service support; act as the primary architectural authority for suppliers, delivery teams, and senior client stakeholders.
- IAM Strategy & Governance: Shape and oversee enterprise IAM capabilities including Joiner/Mover/Leaver (JML) processes, access recertification, role management, identity governance, and compliance reporting.
- Technical Design Ownership: Hands-on oversight of identity schemas, attributes, data models, workflow logic, APIs, microservices, and directory integrations.
- Platform Modernisation: Identify opportunities to simplify complex platform architectures, reduce technical debt, promote API-led integrations, and align capabilities with cloud-native/Microsoft Entra futures.
- Service Supportability: Partner with L2/L3 support, DevOps, and Service Operations to refine runbooks, improve BAU transition, support incident management, and lower overall operational overhead.

Essential Criteria
- Active SC Clearance: You must hold current, active SC Clearance to be considered.
- Senior IAM Leadership: Extensive track record as a Lead, Senior, or Principal Architect designing and delivering large-scale enterprise IAM platforms.
- Regulated Sector Experience: Proven experience delivering secure solutions within Defence, UK Government, Public Sector, or similarly regulated environments.
- Deep IAM Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in identity lifecycle management, governance, APIs, microservices, data feeds/ETL, LDAP, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Hands-On Capability: Comfortable diving into schema design, API interfaces, data models, and platform configurations alongside engineering teams.

Desirable Skills
- IAM Technologies: Hands-on experience with OpenText/NetIQ, SailPoint, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, ForgeRock, or CyberArk.
- Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS-hosted platforms, M365 identity federation, and legacy-to-cloud migration.
- Integration & Workflows: Knowledge of API gateways, orchestration platforms, and containerised deployments.
