The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a leading organisation who are looking to recruit an experienced Solution Architect to join an established but rapidly expanding Architecture function, playing a key role in the definition, delivery and ongoing support of technology solutions across a range of programmes, products and services.
You will take ownership of solution architecture from initial requirements through to implementation and transition into operational service. Working closely with technical teams, suppliers, stakeholders and other architects, you will ensure solutions are robust, scalable, secure and aligned with wider technology and architectural standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong software engineering or development background who has progressed into solution architecture and wants to work across complex, enterprise-level technology environments.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be responsible for:
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to understand and define key functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Evaluating and selecting appropriate technology solutions and platforms, including supporting proof-of-concepts and technology procurement exercises.
- Owning the end-to-end architecture, design and documentation of solutions.
- Working collaboratively with Enterprise, Business, Platform and Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Project and Programme Managers, Security and Service Management teams.
- Working with technology suppliers, partners and customers to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Ensuring solutions are successfully implemented, quality assured, transitioned into operational environments and rolled out effectively.
- Maintaining Architecture Definition Documents (ADDs) and relevant enterprise architecture models.
- Ensuring solutions comply with agreed architecture principles, policies, governance and relevant industry or government digital standards.
- Contributing to the development of solution roadmaps, helping shape the future evolution of products and services.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across technology architecture and solution delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
