Solutions Consultant
Location: Portsmouth
Basic salary: £25,000, increasing to £26,000–£27,000 following successful completion of the Training Academy and achievement of performance targets
To support your transition into the role, you’ll receive a commission accelerator of up to £1,500, paid across your first six months while you develop your specialist market knowledge, client network and sales pipeline.
- Year 1 OTE: £35,000
- Year 2 OTE: £50,000–£70,000
- Year 3 OTE: £80,000–£100,000+

At STR Group, our Solutions Consultants partner with organisations across specialist STEM industries to understand their business challenges and develop tailored talent, and project solutions to help address them. You’ll learn how to secure critical STEM professionals, build multi-disciplinary project teams and work towards supporting the delivery of complex technical programmes worldwide.
We’ll teach you how to develop new business, diagnose client challenges, use data and market intelligence, build influential relationships and present compelling commercial solutions. Working with professionals and decision-makers across multiple time zones, you’ll develop the specialist knowledge and credibility needed to become a trusted advisor. At STR, that’s the level you’ll begin building towards from day one.

What will you be doing?
- Identifying prospective clients and growing your specialist market through solution-focused outbound sales
- Consulting with clients to understand their business objectives, workforce challenges and project requirements
- Building influential relationships with senior stakeholders and specialist STEM professionals
- Identifying, engaging and assessing specialist professionals for business-critical opportunities
- Creating and presenting tailored commercial proposals, from critical hires and retained assignments to multi-hire and full project delivery
- Managing the full consultancy process, from diagnosing the initial requirement through to successful delivery and ongoing partnership
- Managing personalised KPIs, revenue targets and your own developing business pipeline
- Taking ownership of your career progression and earning potential
What are we looking for?
You don’t need previous industry experience. Our Training Academy will provide the knowledge and practical skills you need to succeed. We’re looking for someone who is:
- Ambitious, commercially minded and motivated by measurable success
- Confident communicating with new people and developing professional relationships
- Curious and able to ask thoughtful questions to understand the real challenge
- Comfortable working towards targets in a fast-paced sales environment
- Resilient, proactive and willing to take ownership
- Able to communicate complex information clearly in a consultative manner
