Solutions Engineer

Base salary c£70k to £100k ($100k to $140k) + Bonus c£30k to £60k ($40k to $80k) + Equity + excellent benefits.

Hybrid role.

Recognised as the market-leading AI platform that unifies product data across the full lifecycle, they are focused on pre-sales and implementation for technical software solutions. With more than 150 customers worldwide and offices in the US, UK, Germany and Singapore, our client gives product teams the confidence to innovate and grow.

We are looking for a Solutions Engineer candidate with a background in chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials science. You will be responsible for technical selling, demos, business value cases, and technical evaluations.

Duties

  • Own the full technical pre-sales process — from first demo through business value case development, technical evaluation positioning, and pilot execution.
  • Architect and build custom demonstrations, workshops, and pilots on the platform tailored to each prospect's R&D workflows.
  • Partner closely with Account Executives and champion stakeholders to drive value-based selling and close net new revenue.
  • Lead technical evaluations and demo sessions, telling compelling stories about how our clients products transform R&D data management and innovation.
  • Mentor and manage new grad team members who support you during technical evaluations.
  • Write scripts and configure integrations on the platform's integration server as needed to support custom prospect engagements.
  • Hybrid role with travel c25% to meet with prospects and deliver on-site presentations and workshops.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong science background (chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering) and the soft skills to be the technical face of our clients sales team.

You should be a gritty, curious, and confident communicator who thrives in a fast-paced pre-sales environment — someone who takes ownership, figures things out independently, and delivers excellent work under pressure.

An advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a chemistry or engineering-related field is strongly preferred, and bonus points if you have experience in digitalization at a major chemical or materials company, management consulting with a technical background, or software engineering.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years of experience in digitalisation/change management/leadership in R&D roles.
  • Experience building and demoing technical platforms to enterprise customers.
  • Deep chemistry or materials science domain knowledge.
  • Based in London or New York (Munich is also possible).

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Management consulting experience (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG) with a science background.
  • Professional experience in R&D digitalization at a major chemical/materials company.
  • Degree from a top-tier university.
  • Language mastery – some scripting ability (e.g., Python).
  • Understanding of enterprise R&D workflows and laboratory informatics systems.
