In a Nutshell
Most engineering roles ask you to build features. This one asks you to help build revenue through technical partnerships and marketplace integrations that embed BrightLocal's value into the platforms our customers already use, rather than waiting for them to come to us.
You'll sit within the Sales team, working directly with our CCO, and wear two hats. As a pre-sales technical consultant, you'll support the team as our API partnerships and agency deals grow larger and more complex, scoping integrations and answering the technical questions that unlock them. As the CCO's technical delivery partner for distribution, you'll turn the relationships you build into live, revenue-driving integrations, building marketplace apps on BrightLocal's APIs and owning each partner relationship through to go-live.
You'll start with our Jobber marketplace app and extend the same approach to every marketplace worth being in: website builders, large SaaS platforms, agencies, franchises, and the emerging AI and LLM marketplaces. Every integration you build flattens the cost of winning customers and compounds our reach, so this is a role where the commercial impact of your work is easy to see.
It's a great move if you want more ownership than a typical engineering role gives you: you'll carry partner relationships end to end, not just write the code behind them, and you'll have real support to grow into the parts of it you haven't done before.
You'll work closely with our CCO and Sales team, and collaborate regularly with Engineering, DevOps, RevOps, Design, and Product. It's a UK-based role, working from our Brighton office with flexible working from home.
What You'll Be Doing
Pre-sales Technical Consultancy
- Be the technical partner in the room, and behind it, as API partnerships and agency deals grow larger and more complex.
- Scope what's possible and shape the integration behind a deal.
- Answer the technical, security, and data questions that move deals forward.
- Translate between commercial and technical, helping account teams turn a partner's needs into a credible solution.
- Build proofs of concept and tailored demos that let a prospect see their integration working before they commit.
Technical Onboarding and Integration Delivery
- Own the technical onboarding of new API partners and agencies, from OAuth and API access to data mapping and go-live.
- Build the connectors and data flows that bring a partner's business and location data into BrightLocal, and surface our insights and actions back where they need them.
- Document integrations well and hand over cleanly, so what you build is supportable and repeatable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- Partner with the CCO to deliver the distribution strategy: as you build relationships with marketplaces and platforms, you build the apps and integrations that make them live.
- Own the technical relationship with each partner through delivery, from kickoff to go-live.
- Ship marketplace apps on BrightLocal's APIs, starting with Jobber (OAuth install, business data in, our report and action layer out, Braintree checkout), and extending to the wider set of marketplaces and platforms.
- Deliver each build where the customer already is, powered by BrightLocal Brain.
- Build once, connect anywhere:
- Turn one-off integrations into a repeatable toolkit: reusable patterns for identity, accounts, billing, surfacing, and triggers, so each new partner ships faster than the last.
- Build strictly to BrightLocal's design system and existing infrastructure and deployment pipeline, never a parallel stack.
- Feed what you learn back into our APIs and the wider platform, so the whole business gets easier to integrate with over time.
What Success Looks Like
- In your first 90 days, you’ll be up and running: you’ll know our APIs, design system, and deployment pipeline, you’ll have partnered on at least one live technical deal or onboarding, and you’ll have shipped or advanced our first marketplace integration as the reference for what comes next.
- By six to twelve months, you’ll be the reliable technical partner for the Sales team’s complex API and agency deals, owning each partner relationship through delivery; technical onboarding will be faster and smoother; and you’ll have shipped a growing set of live distribution partnerships on a reusable toolkit — each new marketplace quicker to launch than the last. You’ll be measuring impact in real terms: deals unlocked, partners live, customers reached, and cost-of-acquisition reduced.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- A track record of shipping working integrations or apps end to end, not just prototypes, ideally including third-party platforms, marketplaces, or CRMs.
- Confidence owning partner relationships through delivery: you can be the technical face to a partner or agency from kickoff to go-live.
- A commercial mindset: you think about the deal, the onboarding, the conversion, and the business result, not just the code.
- Daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub, or ChatGPT.
- Self-direction: you manage your own work, communicate clearly, and set realistic expectations.
Nice to Have
- Experience building on or with AI and LLM platforms, MCP servers, or similar AI tooling.
- Prior pre-sales or solutions consulting experience.
