Position
Title: Solutions Engineer - U.S. Army
Location: Hybrid, Reston, VA or Remote, Washington DC Metro Area
Travel Requirements: ~40%
Clearance Level: Top Secret
Technology Specialization: Observability, with an emphasis on Digital Employee Experience (DEX) and Network Performance Monitoring (NPM)
Pay Transparency: This position is compensated with a base salary plus commissions. The total potential On Target Earning ("OTE") compensation range (i.e., base salary plus commissions at 100% attainment of quota achievement) for this position is $245,000 to $260,000. An individual's particular OTE compensation will be determined by the Company, in its sole discretion, in light of the individual's geographical location, education, training, and/or experience.
Role Overview
Riverbed is seeking a highly technical, customer-facing Solutions Engineer to support U.S. Army accounts. This individual will partner closely with Major Account Executives to develop technical account strategies, demonstrate the value of Riverbed's solutions, and help Army customers address complex challenges across their digital environments.
The ideal candidate brings experience supporting U.S. Army, Department of Defense (DoD), or other federal government customers, coupled with a strong technical background in observability, Digital Employee Experience (DEX), and Network Performance Monitoring (NPM).
As a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle, this individual will translate customer mission and IT requirements into solutions that enhance visibility, performance, digital employee experience, and operational outcomes across complex, distributed environments.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert to U.S. Army customers throughout the sales cycle.
- Partner with Account Executives to develop and execute technical account strategies that expand Riverbed's presence across strategic Army accounts.
- Lead technical discovery, solution presentations, demonstrations, workshops, architecture discussions, and proof-of-concept evaluations.
- Translate Army mission, operational, and technical requirements into value-based observability solutions that improve performance, visibility, and user experience.
- Position Riverbed's Digital Employee Experience (DEX) and Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) capabilities within complex DoD environments.
- Guide customers through technical evaluations, address technical objections, and advance opportunities toward technical validation and successful business outcomes.
- Identify emerging use cases, key stakeholders, and opportunities to expand Riverbed's technical footprint within strategic Army accounts.
Ideal Candidate
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Multiple years of experience supporting U.S. Army, DoD, or federal government customers in a technical, engineering, consulting, or presales capacity.
- Experience as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or similar customer-facing technical professional.
- Strong technical expertise in observability, particularly Digital Employee Experience (DEX) and/or Network Performance Monitoring (NPM).
- Familiarity with related technologies such as endpoint analytics, network visibility, packet and flow analytics, infrastructure monitoring, AIOps, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), or cloud observability.
- Proven ability to lead technical discovery, demonstrations, presentations, workshops, and proof-of-concept or proof-of-value evaluations (POCs/POVs) with technical and executive audiences.
- Strong communication and consultative selling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into mission, operational, and business value.
