About the Opportunity
As a Solutions & Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering secure, supportable, and commercially viable technology solutions for our clients. This is a hybrid position combining the technical depth of an experienced infrastructure engineer with the design and consultancy responsibilities of a solutions engineer.
You will contribute across the lifecycle of client engagements, from technical discovery and solution design through to implementation, validation, handover, and ongoing service improvement. Solution Design is a primary focus of the role, alongside the delivery of complex infrastructure, cloud, and modern workplace projects. You will also provide specialist technical capability to the wider engineering team where your expertise is required.
You will work closely with the Technical Delivery Manager, Account Management, Service Desk, and other engineers to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, secure, supportable, and aligned with Aabyss standards and service capabilities.
The role is ideal for an experienced MSP engineer who enjoys both designing solutions and remaining technically hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Consultancy
- Participate in client discovery workshops, technical assessments, and solution planning.
- Design secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable technology solutions.
- Translate identified client requirements and technical risks into viable technical approaches.
- Produce and contribute to Statements of Work (SoWs), technical designs, implementation requirements, and network diagrams.
- Define technical scope, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and high-level effort requirements.
- Provide technical input into project scoping and solution recommendations.
- Support Account Management with technical consultancy and solution development.
- Present and explain technical recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders where required.
- Ensure proposed solutions align with Aabyss technical standards, operational services, support capabilities, and strategic technology direction.
- Escalate designs where requirements, risks, or dependencies fall outside established standards or capabilities.
- Contribute to design reviews and provide peer review for solutions produced by other suitably competent engineers.
Complex Planned Work & Project Delivery
- Deliver complex infrastructure, cloud, networking, and modern workplace projects.
- Lead technical implementation activities across multiple technologies.
- Implement approved designs in accordance with agreed scope and technical standards.
- Identify and escalate risks, dependencies, or design issues discovered during delivery.
- Ensure technical work is completed to agreed quality standards.
- Test and validate delivered solutions before transition into ongoing support.
- Complete appropriate technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure solutions are supportable before handover into live service.
- Provide specialist technical support to other engineers involved in project or planned work.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
