Role Summary

Marex Solutions is a division of Marex providing investment banking solutions with a fintech mindset. We aim to become the world’s leading manufacturer of cross asset, customized derivatives.

The Solutions COO team plays a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and strategic execution of business initiatives.

As Solutions Platform Manager, you will support the optimization of the Solutions Platform and surrounding processes. You will lead and support the delivery of tactical and strategic initiatives to drive automation and support business growth, ensuring alignment with key operational and regulatory frameworks.

Your role will cover a wide range of tasks and projects, among others:

  • Support the development of new trading and technology initiatives, including launching new products, platforms, or business lines
  • Contribute to strategic trading and technology initiatives by generating ideas and supporting strategies to meet client needs and enhance the firm’s offerings
  • Manage daily ad-hoc requests from trading and technology, contributing to both day-to-day operations and broader process improvements
  • Support and drive change for the Marex Solutions trading and technology teams by evaluating current processes and identifying opportunities for automation and technological advancements
  • Collaborate with Front Office, Support, and Control stakeholders to implement business initiatives within a controlled and sustainable framework.
  • Supporting the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of key frameworks related to trading & technology activities to enable the business to comply with internal governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Enabling management to effectively monitor and steer the trading business through performance frameworks, including MI, KPIs, and KRIs covering business and risk/compliance matters.

Responsibilities

As a business manager within the Trading and Technology Pillar, you will:

  • Support the delivery of strategic and tactical Trading and technology projects critical to the Solutions business by:
    • Establishing project plans, defining scope, and ensuring successful execution from start to finish.
    • Generating ideas to improve the management of new business initiatives.
    • Effectively communicating with key stakeholders
  • Supporting the assessment of potential acquisitions for the Solutions business, including through grow vs. buy reviews, and execution.
  • Develop, review, and improve Management Information (MI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to effectively guide business decisions.
  • Assist in managing Solutions costs, creating transparency around budgets, and driving efficiencies and cost reductions where possible.
  • Support the coordination of regulatory change for Solutions specific to the trading and technology pillar, including initial analysis and execution in coordination with the Business, COO team, and Support & Support subject matter experts.
  • Encourage innovation and contribute to idea generation.
  • Ensure that all trading activities comply with local and general regulatory requirements.
  • Support trading Conflict Management and training to ensure compliance.
  • Manage trading Operational Risk Management and Risk Acceptances.
  • Executing critical projects for the derivatives engine
  • Supporting the running of the Solutions technology platform and prioritising associated change
  • Supporting the delivery of both strategic and tactical technology change projects that are critical for the Solutions business
  • Creating, reviewing, and improving business processes with a heavy focus on technology automation
  • Translating business requirements into actionable technology deliverables
  • Contribute to Marex Solutions product trading capability to support liquidity for clients
  • Developing relationships with Support and Control and provide functional support across areas
  • Co-ordinating with Group Technology to understand group technology plans and strategies and ensuring Marex Solutions interests are best served
  • Technology horizon scanning for new technologies that could give the business an edge
  • Working efficiently and supporting with making efficiencies, including but not limited to collaborating with data, research, and analytics colleagues to identify opportunities for hedging strategies and clients
  • Collaborate with sales/broking functions to originate hedging solutions and structured transactions, with a cross product selling mind set
  • Collaboration with central operations functions which support the trading role including but not limited to Operations and Technology
  • Supporting strategies to increase P&L through ongoing analysis of markets and products in the market
  • General:
    • Closely work and collaborate with the rest of the Solutions COO team to ensure effective support of the business line
    • Contributing to a positive team culture, enabling team members to thrive
    • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the FCA and other regulatory authorities where required
    • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
    • Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
    • At all times complying with the FCA’s Code of Conduct
    • To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role, or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility
    • To report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as required
    • To escalate risk events immediately
    • To provide input to risk management processes, as required

Skills and Experience

  • Min 3 years* experience in either manufacturing Structured OTC derivatives or in Structured securities.
  • Good understanding of the front to back processing of these products
  • Good understanding of the applicable governance, legal, and regulatory frameworks relevant to these products
  • Has supported change initiatives related to these products.
  • Has strong stakeholder management skills and able to handle exposure to senior management.
  • Ideally has supported IT change or Regulatory change projects before.
  • Self-motivated, confident, and resilient - able to strive within a profitability driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills, especially excel.
  • Entrepreneurial and leadership skills will be highly considered.
  • Very good Interpersonal skills.
  • University degree.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Very Strong Excel, VBA, or Python skills as well as MS Office skills
