Job Description

Responsibilities

  • To perform a wide range of ultrasound scans including renal, abdominal, DVT Doppler, gynaecological, and some small parts according to Department Protocols. This excludes maternity services.
  • Maintain a high standard of clinical expertise and care for the patient.
  • Scan and independently report own workload of patients, providing written reports to the referring clinician.
  • Participate in research, audit, quality control as part of the wider healthcare team as required. Be prepared to upskill into new scan protocols such as hernia scans/ foreign body localisation etc.

Duties

  • Ultrasound scanning
  • Vetting and protocolling of requests
  • Dealing with referrer clinical queries regarding referrals or reports
  • Teaching registrars/ trainee US staff
  • Directing RDAs as required
  • Supporting training of new RDAs
  • Reporting audit
  • Supporting updating of local documentation pertaining to US
  • Basic QA of equipment
