Sonore String Quartet

Sonore String Quartet have been awarded ‘Wedding Musicians of the Year’ for South of England award by Prestige Awards

We are a highly experienced group of players with over 120 years of professional music making between us. The musicians in Sonore String Quartet play together in orchestral concerts, theatre, operas and other chamber music ensembles as well as performing as the Sonore String Quartet.

We always endeavour to use the same core group of players so that the Sonore ‘sound’ is consistent. As well as being colleagues, we are also great friends and this shows in the enjoyment and energy we have in our playing. We pride ourselves on providing a personal service to each of our clients, responding to any queries you may have promptly and efficiently, working with you to create the perfect soundtrack to your event.

We are highly skilled at ‘reading’ our audiences and can adapt to this with the pieces we play for you. We carry a huge range of music with us and can usually respond to ‘ad hoc’ requests from your guests. Many other event professionals comment on the depth and quality of our sound and the range of styles we perform in. Please see our reviews for positive client feedback in all aspects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are available as a quartet, trio and duo depending on your budget and the performance space available.

In recent months, Sonore have played in many prestigious venues including Windsor Castle, Blenheim Palace, The Bath Assembly Rooms, Leeds Castle, Kirtlington Park House, Fenton House, Farnham Castle, Tattershall Castle, The Vineyard, Newbury and at the Institute of Directors on Pall Mall. Members of the quartet have also performed in prestigious venues in the UK such as the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. David’s Hall.

Many of our arrangements (and we have over 800!) are done by our players and are thus unique to Sonore - a bespoke arrangement can be done should we not already have a piece you would like.

Sonore has a wide-ranging repertoire and we are equally at home playing everything from well-known classics to current RnB and rock and pop music.

We believe that every event and occasion is both individual and special and we take pride in working with you to create the perfect musical atmosphere for your civil or church wedding ceremony, drinks reception, dinner party or any other occasion you may be hosting.

Prior to forming Sonore String Quartet, individual players have worked with well-known conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Sir Alexander Gibson, Owain Arwel-Hughes, Elgar Howarth, Arthur Davidson to name but a few, and also with the Bochmann and Chilingirian Quartets. Members of the quartet have studied with teachers from the Guildhall School of Music and Trinity College of Music and have played in countless orchestras and ensembles including the Royal Scottish National, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Radio Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to change the personnel within the quartet. If this occurs, we will use a trusted colleague to ensure your enjoyment of our music making is not altered in any way.

Whatever your occasion, we can help make your event really special and memorable.
