Position Summary

Responsible for sourcing goods and services requiring application of advanced purchasing principles, theories and concepts. Prepares, negotiates, issues, and manages agreements to minimise risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value and continuity of supply.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement Category/Commodity Strategies to minimise risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply. Includes spend aggregation, and supplier consolidation, rationalisation, and segmentation
  • Negotiate Strategic Agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions.
  • Focal point within the assigned Category for supplier performance risk escalation
  • Leverage and manage supplier relationships to create a competitive advantage. Works with suppliers on Continuous Improvement and cost reduction initiatives – 80% Uk based Supplier and 260 non UK Suppliers
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of market conditions and industry trends related to assigned Category
  • Identifies and develops alternate sources of supply.
  • Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates capabilities. – 163 UK Supplies and 230 Italian Suppliers.
  • Applies Continuous Improvement techniques to internal procurement processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensures all key stakeholders are actively involved in the solicitation, negotiation, and award process.
  • Actively participates in High Performance Teams to improve value stream performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 Year) or equivalent in Supply Chain or Operations Management, Business, Engineering or Other.
  • Professional Certification – CIPS, ASCM (APICS) or ISM preferred
  • Minimum of 4-6 years applicable experience in procurement, finance, materials management or operations
  • Analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Programs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
  • Understanding of lean enterprise principles and practices
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting objectives
  • Ability to build trust and demonstrate a high level of integrity
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Decisive, resilient & flexible
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solving skills
