Duration: 12 months contract
Pay Range: 40 – 50 GBP /hour PAYE Inside IR 35
About the Role
The Fabrication Sourcing Specialist supports sourcing and supplier quotation activities during the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) bid phase. The role works with Sales, Commercial Operations, Engineering, Quality, Project Management, and suppliers to develop competitive sourcing strategies while meeting technical, quality, delivery, and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead RFQ and sourcing activities for fabrication, machining, welding, coating, assembly, and manufacturing scopes.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations for cost, technical compliance, capacity, lead time, logistics, and commercial terms.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranty, and other commercial conditions.
- Identify cost savings and cost-avoidance opportunities through competitive bidding, benchmarking, alternative sourcing, and supplier consolidation.
- Assess supplier technical capability, capacity, quality, financial stability, and execution risks.
- Develop sourcing recommendations, market intelligence, and risk assessments to support bid competitiveness.
- Build relationships with strategic fabrication and manufacturing suppliers and support supplier qualification and development.
- Monitor market conditions affecting raw materials, labour, manufacturing capacity, and fabrication costs.
- Identify supply-chain risks and develop appropriate mitigation and business-continuity plans.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, and Project Management teams.
- Support transition of awarded projects from ITO to OTR (Order to Remittance).

Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in sourcing, procurement, fabrication, manufacturing, or supply-chain management.
- Experience supporting RFQs, commercial bids, proposals, or project execution.
- Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, coating, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong supplier management, commercial negotiation, cost analysis, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and procurement/sourcing tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced bid environment.
