Sous Chef

We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious and creative Sous Chef for our premium steak restaurant in Belgravia.

We open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. We close for 10 days at Christmas.

Paid over-time over 45 hours each week means that this position can be whatever you want to make of it. On target earnings of £50,000 + per annum.

Company Description

The Jones Family Kitchen is an independently owned modern steak restaurant and bar located in the restored historic Eccleston Yards between Ebury Street and Victoria Station in Central London. The restaurant focuses on high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients, with steak from The Ginger Pig and our own organic farm in Devon.

Role Description

The Sous Chef is a full-time, on-site role based at The Jones Family Kitchen in Belgravia. The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items such as steaks, fish dishes, vegetarian options, and house specialties.

  • Maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency
  • Supervising and training kitchen team members
  • Ensuring effective coordination during service
  • Managing stock and ordering
  • Supporting menu development
  • Contributing to specials that reflect the restaurant’s focus on quality sourcing and seasonal ingredients
  • Upholding food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards
  • Helping adapt dishes for guests with dietary requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong culinary skills in grill and meat cookery, fish preparation, and modern British or European cuisine
  • Experience in a busy restaurant kitchen, ideally in steak or premium casual dining environments
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and best practices in kitchen cleanliness and organisation
  • Ability to supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff, with collaborative communication skills
  • Experience with menu planning, specials creation, and working with sustainably and responsibly sourced ingredients
  • Competence in stock control, wastage management, and supporting cost-effective kitchen operations
  • Capability to accommodate dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and vegetarian options
  • Relevant culinary qualification or chef training, or equivalent professional experience
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak service times as required
