Sous Chef – Pyro
Pyro is looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be a natural leader, friendly and personable, and passionate about all things food and drink. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced chef ready to take on a senior role in an amazing up-and-coming restaurant.
The Restaurant
Founded by Yiannis Mexis, Pyro, meaning "setting things ablaze," is what we want to achieve in the industry and on the food scene. Coming from a very Michelin-heavy background, the senior team wants to deliver casual, fun dining to a very high standard. Pyro focuses on over-the-fire cooking, celebrating seasonal ingredients with a nod to Yiannis' Greek heritage.
The Position
As Sous Chef, you'll work alongside the Head Chef to lead the kitchen, creating exceptional dishes and delivering an all-encompassing experience to our guests. You'll run the pass with confidence, step up to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, and play a key role in training and motivating the brigade. You'll help shape menus and specials, manage ordering, stock control and food costs, and ensure the kitchen consistently meets the highest standards of food safety, Health and Safety, and standard operating procedures. More importantly, we're looking for someone as passionate about food, hospitality and people as we are!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
