Sous Chef – Step into a Role That Truly Makes a Difference
Location: Regents Park Barracks, London, NW1 4AL
Pay rate: £16.13 per hour (31,560.78)
Contract type: Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week, mainly Mon – Fri with occasional weekends (5 days out of 7)
Shifts: Range between 0630 - 2030
As a Sous Chef at Regent's Park Barracks, you'll be part of a professional catering team within one of London's most historic military establishments. Combining hands-on cooking with kitchen leadership, you'll help deliver high-quality meals (up to 1000 meals at a time), support the development of your team and play an important role in creating an outstanding dining experience for military personnel and visitors alike.
To be eligible for this role, due to the sector requirements: you must have been a UK resident for the past 5 years and have legal right to work in the UK and be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.

What you’ll do:
- Run shifts and guide your team when the Head Chef is not present, producing up to 1000 meals at a time – so organisation and the ability to thrive under pressure is required!
- Be responsible for a team of 6.
- Organise and support your team to ensure a smooth operation daily, allocating tasks so that your team and time are fully utilised.
- Produce food in line with recipe sheets, and have full knowledge of all menu items served, including allergen information.
- Manage production and food levels to ensure minimal wastage. Place orders and keep records of any stock wastage, alongside receiving deliveries, and ensuring they are stored correctly, and the FIFO method is followed.
- Carry out deep cleans daily / weekly alongside your team, ensuring all staff are fully trained on their sections and have undertaken any relevant training as required.
What we’re looking for:
- Must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years and have legal right to work
- Must be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks
- Relevant culinary qualification and at least 2 years on the job experience acting as either a Sous or a Senior CDP
- A trade test will be required for the interview
