Job Description

We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Novotel London Excel and play a key role in delivering an exceptional food experience for our guests.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll help lead the kitchen team, maintain consistently high standards, and ensure every dish leaving the kitchen is prepared with care, precision, and attention to detail.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Leading, motivating, and developing the kitchen team during service.
  • Ensuring food is consistently prepared and presented to a high standard.
  • Taking responsibility for kitchen operations in the Head Chef’s absence.
  • Helping with menu development, specials, and new dishes.
  • Maintaining excellent food quality, portion control, and consistency.
  • Managing stock, ordering, storage, and minimising food waste.
  • Ensuring high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness.
  • Supporting training and development of junior chefs and kitchen team members.
  • Working closely with front-of-house to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Maintaining a positive, professional, and supportive kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie
  • Confidence in leading a team in a busy kitchen
  • Proven experience with all aspects of Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must Have the Right to Work in UK
