Sous Chef

Boutique Hotel | Near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

We are looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at our beautiful boutique hotel near Bury St Edmunds.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chef who enjoys working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality food in a professional, welcoming environment.

The Role

Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to lead the team and maintain excellent standards across our restaurant, events and private dining operations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Head Chef with the smooth running of the kitchen
  • Leading and motivating the kitchen team during service
  • Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes using fresh, seasonal produce
  • Maintaining consistently high standards of food presentation and quality
  • Assisting with menu development and daily specials
  • Ensuring excellent food hygiene, health & safety and HACCP standards
  • Managing stock, ordering and minimising food waste
  • Training and supporting junior members of the team
  • Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced Chef de Partie/Sous Chef ready to take the next step, or an established Sous Chef
  • Passionate about food and hospitality
  • Confident leading a team in a busy kitchen environment
  • Organised, reliable and calm under pressure
  • Creative, with a genuine interest in seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
  • Committed to maintaining high standards
  • A positive team player with excellent communication skills

Position

Full-time, permanent

Salary

£40,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience plus Tronc

Hours

48 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and occasional events
