Sous Chef at The Nel - Modern Local at Clapham South SW4 9DW

Permanent Full Time/Part Time Sous Chef opportunity.

Come and be part of a friendly kitchen team. You'll create something fantastic and deliver our fresh food offer, including our new Saucy Bird Pop Up menu to the local neighbourhood. The focus is on constantly developing yourself and helping create seasonal menu items from the best ingredients (no additives or preservatives in our kitchens!)

Key Sous Chef responsibilities:

  • Maximising dry sales by ensuring only the best food leaves your kitchen
  • Comply with food standards and guidelines
  • Compliance with Health & Safety policies & procedures
  • Supporting the Lead Chef with the training in of new menus to our teams
  • Supplier ordering and maintaining correct stock levels

Our lively and vibey venue rounds up all the best bits a neighbourhood pub can offer. Embracing traditional values with a modern, fun attitude, serving satisfying British food and drink from local suppliers and producers.

  • Our dedicated sports area features giant screens showing all the latest games and our large outdoor terrace has fantastic views out over the Common.
  • The Nel is located a 2 minute walk from Clapham South tube station – so offers a great commute.

About You

Experience in a similar position preferred or if you are ready to make the step up into a Sous Chef role, we'd love to hear from you.

Throw in your passion for fresh produce, consistent, flavoursome food, ability to communicate clearly in English, good organisational skills, knowledge of H & S, strong work ethic and you'll have us at hello!

Our Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in the delivery of Livelyhood’s fresh food offering that has our five Lively Ways (values) of Authentic, Daring, People, Lively and Sustainable at its very heart.

  • Competitive hourly rates of pay of up to £14.25 - £15.50 per hour depending on your experience
  • PLUS fantastic additional tronc - averaging a further £1.50 an hour delivering OTE £15.75 - £17 ph
