BOARDING HOUSE CHEF | RUGBY SCHOOL | £36,500

40 hours per week | Term time only, 48 weeks per year | 4 days on, 4 days off rolling rota

Lodestone House, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, is recruiting for a passionate Boarding House Chef to join the team at Rugby School, one of the UK's most respected independent schools.

A ROLE AT THE HEART OF BOARDING HOUSE LIFE

Rugby School is renowned for its rich heritage, outstanding boarding experience and commitment to student wellbeing. Working in partnership with Lodestone House, the school places fresh food, hospitality and student experience at the centre of daily boarding life.

As a Boarding House Chef, you'll be a key member of a dedicated house team, preparing and serving freshly cooked meals and snacks for boarding students. You'll help create a welcoming dining environment where nutritious, high-quality food plays an important role in students' daily lives.

The role also offers an attractive work-life balance through a rolling 4 days on, 4 days off rota. Each boarding house is supported by two dedicated teams working back-to-back throughout the academic year, helping ensure a consistent service for students.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing and cooking fresh breakfasts, lunches and dinners for boarding students
  • Creating nutritious, seasonal meals and snacks using quality ingredients
  • Preparing a variety of British and international dishes from scratch
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and service
  • Creating a welcoming dining environment and building positive relationships with students
  • Listening to student feedback and helping improve menus and the overall dining experience
  • Following all Food Safety, HACCP, allergen, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen and dining area
  • Following safeguarding procedures and supporting student wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the boarding house and wider catering team
  • Reporting to the House Group Catering Manager and supporting the smooth running of the catering operation

Who You Are

  • An experienced chef with a passion for fresh food and cooking from scratch
  • Confident preparing a variety of high-quality meals using fresh ingredients
  • Knowledgeable about food safety, hygiene, allergens and kitchen safety
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage your time effectively
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to a supportive team
  • Passionate about delivering excellent food and customer service
  • Friendly and approachable, with an understanding of the importance of the student dining experience
  • Committed to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for young people
  • Flexible and comfortable working a 4 days on, 4 days off rolling rota
