A prestigious hotel located at the southern tip of Lake Windermere is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering outstanding culinary experiences across a variety of food and beverage outlets. The hotel is nestled in one of the Lake District's most scenic spots, with excellent transport links and easy access to local attractions such as Bowness, Ambleside, and Windermere town.
The property caters to both families and adults seeking rest and relaxation, offering a wide range of facilities including a brasserie, traditional inn, café, family pool, luxury spa, and outdoor playpark. Guests enjoy a variety of dining options, and the kitchen team plays a central role in delivering high-quality, seasonal food to suit every taste.
Role Summary
The Sous Chef will assist in the daily running of the kitchen, working alongside the Head Chef to maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and staff management. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a skilled and motivated chef with a passion for fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a flair for modern British cuisine.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management and food preparation
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure consistent performance
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety (HACCP)
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste reduction
- Contribute to seasonal menu development and ensure consistent delivery of dishes
- Lead service during busy periods and ensure smooth, efficient operation
- Uphold company standards and values at all times
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Sous Chef or a strong Chef de Partie ready to take the next step. A proactive attitude, strong leadership skills, and a genuine passion for cooking are essential.

Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a busy kitchen
- Knowledge of modern British cuisine and seasonal cooking
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and lead a team effectively
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Package & Benefits
- Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum or £15 - £18 per hour (DOE)
- Contract: Full-time, 50 hours per week
