Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Sous Chef role based in Cheltenham. The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and cooking high-quality dishes for daily service, events, and functions across The Cheltenham Trust’s venues.

Responsibilities include:


Get help with your application

- Overseeing kitchen operations during service
- Assisting with menu development
- Ensuring consistent food quality and presentation
- Supervising and mentoring kitchen team members
- Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
- Managing stock and ordering
- Helping to control costs and reduce waste
- Collaborating closely with front-of-house teams to deliver a positive dining experience aligned with the Trust’s values and guest expectations
Qualifications
- Strong culinary skills, including experience in preparing a varied menu, food presentation, and working in a busy professional kitchen.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and health and safety best practices, with relevant certifications preferred.
- Experience in kitchen supervision, including team leadership, training, and effective communication with colleagues and management.
- Ability to manage time, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain quality under pressure, particularly during events and high-volume service.
- Basic understanding of stock control, cost management, and portioning to support efficient and sustainable kitchen operations.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and event days, in line with venue requirements.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in hospitality, events, or similar environments is highly desirable.
- Formal culinary training or relevant professional qualifications are an advantage.
