Join the kitchen at The Tivoli, Cambridge
Looking for a kitchen where you can be creative, develop your team and cook with great seasonal ingredients?
Welcome to The Tivoli.
We’re one of Cambridge’s most exciting hospitality venues, spread across five unique floors, four lively bars, indoor golf, shuffleboard, private event spaces and a stunning roof terrace overlooking Jesus Green. Every day is different, from relaxed lunches and busy evening service to private events and packed weekends.
We’re looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our friendly, passionate kitchen team and help shape the next chapter of our food offering.
This is more than just running a service. You’ll work closely with our Head Chef to develop menus, champion seasonal ingredients and help create dishes that people genuinely want to come back for. We believe great food starts with fresh produce, simple cooking and giving talented chefs the opportunity to put their own stamp on the menu.
If you’re someone who enjoys developing people just as much as creating great food, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Head Chef in leading the day-to-day operation of our busy kitchens.
- Cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients and maintaining consistently high standards.
- Helping create and develop new dishes, specials and seasonal menus.
- Leading services with confidence and setting the pace during busy periods.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing junior chefs, helping them build confidence and progress their careers.
- Working closely with the front of house team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
- Helping manage stock, ordering and kitchen organisation while keeping waste to a minimum.
- Maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
