Role Description

The Sous Chef at La Boheme is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role supports the Head Chef in planning and executing the daily menu, overseeing food preparation, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation of all dishes. The Sous Chef leads and trains kitchen team members, coordinates shift activities, and maintains a clean, safe, and efficient working environment in line with health and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include managing inventory, assisting with ordering, contributing to menu development, and collaborating closely with front-of-house staff to provide an outstanding guest experience. The Sous Chef is expected to uphold La Boheme’s culinary standards, bring creativity to the kitchen, and model a positive, respectful team culture.

  • Professional culinary training or equivalent experience in a high-quality restaurant environment, with strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating.
  • Experience in kitchen leadership, including supervising staff, supporting scheduling, and contributing to training and performance feedback.
  • Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and best practices for maintaining a clean, compliant kitchen.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage multiple orders, and maintain high standards during peak service times.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with the Head Chef, kitchen team, and front-of-house staff.
  • Demonstrated creativity and interest in menu development, seasonal ingredients, and modern plating styles.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a hospitality environment.
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie is highly beneficial; familiarity with Mediterranean or modern European cuisine is a plus.
