Job Description
We’re on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef with immediate availability to join our vibrant team at one of the most iconic cultural destinations in the world — The British Museum.
Our cafés serve freshly brewed coffee, delicious sandwiches, vibrant salads, and indulgent cakes — all crafted with care and quality. As part of the Benugo family, we’re committed to creating memorable experiences for every guest, just as unforgettable as the museum’s treasures like the Rosetta Stone.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic kitchen delivering high-quality hospitality, events, and fine dining experiences in a corporate setting.
Salary: up to £40,000 per annum
Shifts: 5 days out of 7, daytime

Contract: Full Time, Permanent
About the Sous Chef role
- Reporting directly with the Head Chef and deputising in their absence
- Working with the Head Chef and Group Executive Chef to develop new menu ideas and ways to improve our offerings
- Ensuring the food quality is at its highest standard at all times
- Ensure the performance of the chef team is of the highest standard by motivating and leading by example
- Overseeing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control in conjunction with the Head Chef
- Ensure all food safety and health and safety procedures are maintained to the highest standard
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and a variety of cuisines.
- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and high-quality food presentation.
- Strong commitment to maintaining high food quality and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across kitchen teams.
- Flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach to work.
