Role Description
The Sous Chef at Peach Pubs in Harpenden is a full-time, on-site role responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen. This includes:

The Sous Chef contributes to menu planning, assists with stock control and ordering, and helps manage waste and cost efficiency. The role also involves:
- Mentoring junior team members
- Fostering a positive team culture
- Delivering a great experience for guests through excellent food
Qualifications
- Strong culinary skills, including experience preparing fresh, seasonal dishes and working in a busy pub, restaurant, or hotel kitchen.
- Experience in kitchen leadership, such as supervising kitchen teams, delegating tasks, and supporting Head Chef with daily operations.
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations, with relevant certificates or a willingness to obtain them.
- Ability to manage stock, control costs, and reduce waste while maintaining quality and portion consistency.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across front-of-house and kitchen teams.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or Senior Chef de Partie is highly desirable.
- Passion for hospitality, a positive attitude, and commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful workplace.
