Job Title: SP Controller
Function: Supply Chain Planning
Location: Hybrid Worker – Expectation is two days per week on site at our Alfreton office
Contract type: Fixed Term 6 month
Salary: Offered on a starting salary of £32,741 with the potential to increase to £36,379 over the course of three years

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a SP Controller to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.
In this role you will be required to manage an allocated group of suppliers in a professional, proactive, and commercially focused manner to ensure uninterrupted supply of goods across the NHS Supply Chain. This role is as an integral part of the day-to-day delivery of Business services, ensuring full compliance with service KPIs, policies and procedures of NHS Supply Chain are adhered to. Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders across multiple communication platforms, ensuring clear and effective information exchange. Providing analysis of data and presenting in simple formats for tracking future supply chain of products and horizon scanning.
Every day you will
- Execute, in a supply chain of low complexity, planning activities within a defined framework/system that mainly affect own organisation/unit
- Investigate incidents with suppliers or supplies and recommend actions in a timely manner to enable the delivery of the agreed services and supplies.
- Manage inventory for a site or factory, with guidance when discrepancies or issues are identified, following existing procedures.
- Carry out a range of inventory-control management activities using existing procedures

We serve every NHS Trust and operate a national network of distribution centres, managing relationships with more than a thousand suppliers and delivering more than 8,000,000 orders each year to more than 17,000 locations. Systems and Tools
Work with full competence to leverage logistics and supply chain management software (LMS/SCMS) and other relevant technology to optimize inventory management, transportation planning, warehousing operations, and overall supply chain visibility.

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate meetings, manage stakeholder expectations, resolve complex issues, and gain commitment from both internal and external partners.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Capability to collect, analyse, interpret, and report on inventory, order, supplier performance, and operational data to support decision-making and identify trends or risks.
Organisation & Operational Coordination
Excellent planning and prioritisation skills to manage inventory records, aged orders, supplier fulfilment, onboarding activities, emergency deliveries, and multiple competing deadlines.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
Ability to identify operational inefficiencies, investigate issues, implement improvements, adapt to industry changes, and contribute to process optimisation and compliance requirements.
