Nurse Manager for the Sexual Health Service
Aberdeen Health & Social Care Partnership, in conjunction with NHS Grampian, is seeking an inspiring, dynamic and experienced nursing leader to take on the role of Nurse Manager for the Sexual Health Service (Band 8a).
This is an exciting and pivotal leadership role where you will have professional and operational responsibility, alongside the Service Manager, Deputy Service Manager and Clinical Lead, for sexual health services in Grampian. You will be directly responsible for the staff management of the nursing team to include appraisals, learning and development and policy adherence.
You will play a central role in developing and shaping the future of the service whilst ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective patient centred care whilst working collaboratively with the wider HSCP and NHS Grampian corporate and clinical teams.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and strong clinical leadership across the service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Operational Management: Overseeing the day-to-day delivery, capacity planning, and performance management of the sexual health service.
- Clinical Governance & Quality: Ensuring a culture of continuous quality improvement, maintaining high clinical standards, and robustly managing risk, incidents, and complaints.
- Workforce Leadership: Providing line management, professional supervision, and mentorship to the wider nursing workforce (Band 3’s Band 7’s).
- Strategic Development: Leading and developing the development of the service, ensuring resilience, accessibility, and ability to respond to local population needs.
- Financial & Resource Management: Managing devolved budgets effectively and ensuring efficient deployment of staff and resources.
To excel in this role, you must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) with a master’s degree or equivalent level of experience, alongside a proven track record of successful leadership at a senior level (typically Band 7 or above) within a complex healthcare environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
