Spanish Tutor – After-School Club
Location: London
Hours: Initially 1 hour per week, during after-school hours
Contract: Freelance / Self-employed, with the potential for additional classes
About VCA
VCA – The Verb-Centred Academy of Languages provides engaging language lessons for children and adults, both in person and online. Our Verb-Centred Method™ introduces verbs and sentence-building from the beginning, helping learners communicate confidently instead of simply memorising lists of vocabulary. Our after-school clubs give pupils an enjoyable and practical introduction to languages within a familiar school environment.
The Role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Spanish tutor to deliver a weekly one-hour after-school club at a London school.
The role will initially involve one class per week. VCA will provide the lesson plans and materials, which must be delivered in accordance with our Verb-Centred Method™. There may be opportunities to take on additional school clubs or private lessons in the future, although further hours cannot be guaranteed at this stage.

Responsibilities
- Deliver the provided, age-appropriate Spanish lessons in accordance with VCA’s Verb-Centred Method™
- Create a positive and enjoyable learning environment
- Encourage pupils to speak Spanish and build confidence
- Familiarise yourself with the lesson plans and prepare the provided materials for each session
- Manage a group of children safely and effectively
- Communicate reliably with VCA regarding attendance and progress
- Follow the school’s safeguarding and behaviour policies
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be fluent in Spanish
- Have experience teaching or working with children
- Be confident managing a group independently
- Be enthusiastic, patient, organised and dependable
- Be able to travel to schools within London
- Be available during after-school hours, normally between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm
- Have a valid Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be registered as self-employed or willing to register

A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. We are particularly interested in someone who makes language learning lively, practical and enjoyable while following structured lesson plans.
