We’re looking for someone who likes selling, likes customers and likes making things happen.

This is a brand-new role working across two closely connected businesses: Grunwald Limited and CausebrookSmith.

Grunwald Limited

Grunwald Limited is the UK operation of German packaging machinery manufacturer Grunwald GmbH, supplying and supporting filling and sealing equipment across the UK food manufacturing industry.

CausebrookSmith

CausebrookSmith is a growing lifecycle support business, built to support both machinery manufacturers and end users with service engineering, spares, asset care and wider aftermarket support.

The role will report directly to the Managing Director and Operations & Projects Director and provides an opportunity to work across both established machinery support and a rapidly developing lifecycle business.

What will you be doing?

The role has two complementary areas of sales responsibility.

On the Grunwald Limited side

  • You’ll take responsibility for developing sales of recommended and critical spare parts across our installed customer base.
  • Our Spares Department will produce and process the quotations. Your job is to make sure opportunities are properly followed through.
  • You’ll speak to customers, follow up quotations, understand why something hasn’t been purchased, identify budget or timing constraints and work out what we can do to move things forward.
  • You’ll also coordinate our Mobile Spares Administrator, making sure customers are visited on a regular four-to-six-week cycle to review their recommended and critical spares holdings, identify what needs replenishing and generate new opportunities.

On the CausebrookSmith side

  • You’ll be developing new service and lifecycle business.
  • You’ll predominantly meet OEMs and machinery manufacturers who could benefit from additional service, spares and lifecycle support, alongside selected end users.
  • You’ll open the conversation, understand what the customer needs and then work with the management team and our After-Sales Manager to develop the right proposal. That could be a presentation, quotation, service agreement or a more comprehensive lifecycle support package.
  • You’ll then help present and progress that proposal through to order.
  • Once an ongoing account has been established, our After-Sales Manager will take over the day-to-day relationship, leaving you free to develop the next opportunity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who are we looking for?

You don’t have to come from packaging machinery.

  • B2B sales experience would be ideal, but we’re equally interested in people who have successfully sold higher-value or consultative products and services in areas such as property, automotive, insurance or similar.
  • What matters is that you can communicate, build relationships, understand what somebody needs and then keep an opportunity moving.

Requirements

  • Around two years’ relevant sales, service, commercial or technical experience
  • A Levels, T Levels, Level 3 Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Drive, determination and a proactive approach to sales
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage your own diary and pipeline
  • Excellent computer literacy, including the ability to produce your own professional PowerPoint presentations
  • Confidence dealing with everyone from engineers and buyers through to senior management
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering, manufacturing, automation or packaging machinery would be advantageous, but it isn’t essential.

We can teach somebody about the machinery and the industry. We’re looking for the underlying commercial ability, curiosity and determination.

What does the week look like?

This isn’t a role where you’ll spend five days sitting behind a desk.

  • Typically, Monday and Friday will be office based, Tuesday and Thursday will be out visiting customers, with Wednesday flexible depending on meetings and priorities.
  • There will be regular UK travel, so you’ll need to enjoy getting out, meeting people and developing relationships face to face.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining at an exciting point for both businesses.

  • Grunwald Limited has an established UK customer base and a significant installed base of machinery to support. CausebrookSmith is a young and growing business developing a different approach to lifecycle support for machinery manufacturers and end users.
  • This role sits right between the two - combining an established customer base with the opportunity to develop completely new relationships and business.
  • You’ll also receive strong, hands-on mentoring and development. The role works directly with James Causebrook and Samantha Smith, giving you the opportunity to learn from their combined experience across packaging machinery, engineering, aftermarket service, sales, business development and customer relationship management.
  • Both have spent their careers working directly with manufacturers, OEMs and some of the UK’s largest food producers, building relationships and developing machinery and lifecycle solutions.
  • You won’t simply be given a target and left to get on with it - there will be genuine support in developing your commercial, technical and industry knowledge.
  • For someone with the right underlying sales ability and ambition, this is an opportunity to learn an industry, build a network and develop a career, while being given real responsibility from the outset.
  • You’ll have genuine exposure to customers and senior decision-makers, with the freedom to develop opportunities rather than simply process what lands in an inbox.

We’re looking for somebody who sees an outstanding quotation and wants to know what happens next.

If that’s how you approach sales, we’d like to hear from you.
