Senior SEN Teacher – Post-16 Satellite Provision
Location: North West London
Start: ASAP
Contract: Temporary until at least Christmas, with strong potential to extend
Pay: Upper Pay Scale + TLR (guide, dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
About the School
Our client is a well-established, local authority maintained special school for young people aged 11–19. It is a small, close-knit community where almost every pupil has an EHCP. Many learners have complex medical needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and life-limiting conditions.
The school's motto is built around helping every learner enjoy and achieve. Staff put dignity, communication, and quality of life at the centre of their work. The school is known for careful, personalised transition planning. It also has close partnerships with families, local services, and further education providers, so that young people move confidently into adulthood.
To meet growing local demand, the school opened a Post-16 satellite provision on a partner school site. It works as an extension of the main school. It gives older students an age-appropriate setting focused on independence, life skills, and preparation for college and adult life.

Why This Role Exists
The satellite has grown quickly, doubling from three classrooms to six. With more students and more new staff, the Assistant Head who leads the site needs an experienced senior colleague alongside her. This is a real opportunity to help shape a provision that is still developing. You will bring structure, calm, and confidence while the site settles into its next phase.
The Role
- Provide senior, experienced support across the expanded Post-16 satellite provision
- Support, guide, and reassure staff, especially those new to the setting, so they feel confident day to day
- Work closely with, and report to, the Assistant Head leading the site, carrying out her direction and running with it
- Model high-quality SEND practice for learners with complex and medical needs
- Help embed routines, systems, and consistency across the new classes
- Get fully involved in the day-to-day life of the site. That may mean leading a class one moment and helping at lunchtime or with admin the next

What We're Looking For
- An experienced teacher working at Senior Teacher or Department Lead level
- Strong SEND experience, ideally with complex needs, PMLD, medical needs, or Post-16 learners
- Credibility and presence, so staff quickly trust your judgement
- A flexible, hands-on, team-first attitude. No task is too small
- A quick learner who can take a steer and act on it independently
- Comfortable in a setting that is still being developed and organised
- Complete professionalism and discretion
- A supportive colleague who respects the site leader's authority while bringing their own expertise
- An enhanced Child and Adult barred-list DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
