We seek to appoint an experienced, committed, and passionate individual to support the Strategic SENCO to develop the highest standard of Special Educational Needs provision for our students.
The postholder will be a passionate advocate of students and will aid them to identify their individual needs and ensure that they are appropriately supported. The post holder will be part of the wider Year team and will work collaboratively with pastoral staff to support students in their year to ensure they attend, participate, and achieve.
They will be expected to assist in the identification of specific SEND needs, find creative and innovative ways to support students, and will ensure that those students can become independent and successful. This involves working with teaching staff in an advisory capacity and supporting the professional development of colleagues.

The successful candidate will be extremely organized, possess excellent record-keeping, and have an extensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the varying needs of students. They will be responsible for organizing SEND assessments as well as working with families and outside agencies for referrals, so will need to be a highly effective communicator and able to build strong relationships.
The SENSO oversees the effectiveness of SEN support plans and monitors their use within classrooms to ensure every student gets the support they deserve.
The Following Qualifications And Experience Are Essential
- Experience of working in a secondary school with students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience/qualification.
- Understanding of effective strategies for supporting SEN pupils, including behavioral needs.
- Knowledge of the range of SEN needs which may need support.
- Experience of intervention/working in small groups or 1:1.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Grade C or above.
- Safeguarding experience and qualification.
