We are delighted to be recruiting for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist SEND school in Shirley.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated and supportive team within a small specialist setting, working with pupils who have a wide range of additional needs. You'll play an important role in helping students access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals in a safe, nurturing environment.

The Role
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, and wider support staff, you'll provide personalised support to pupils across the school, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting pupils through personalised learning activities tailored to their individual abilities and learning needs
- Building positive, professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families
- Promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment by following safeguarding procedures and school policies
- Recognising signs of emotional dysregulation and supporting pupils to access appropriate interventions
- Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, structure, and positive reinforcement
- Recording and communicating relevant information to teaching staff and parents where appropriate
- Providing support across different age groups and areas of the school as required
- Assisting with personal care where necessary, ensuring pupils are supported with dignity and respect

About You
We're looking for enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs.
You Will Ideally Have
- Previous experience working in a school, care, residential, or support setting (school-based experience is beneficial but not essential)
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism, SEND, learning difficulties, or behaviours that may challenge, either professionally or through personal experience
- A calm, resilient, and nurturing approach when supporting pupils with a range of needs
- A willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development
- Confidence supporting pupils with personal care where required
- Excellent attendance, reliability, and a strong work ethic
- A Psychology degree or SEND-related qualification (desirable but not essential)
