An Exciting Opportunity for a Registered Nurse
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse with experience of working with children and young people with complex health needs to join the York Special School Nursing Team.
About the Role
The candidate will have experience of caring for children and young people with complex health needs and Special Educational Needs (SEND) who has a passion for supporting and improving the lives of children, young people and their families with additional needs. They will ideally have experience of managing gastrostomy/stoma care, wound care, diabetes, epilepsy, bowel & bladder, as well as writing EHCP’s and care plans, though full training will be given to the successful candidate.
Responsibilities
- Fully supported in this role with opportunity to access continuous professional development.
- Supported to find suitable training to develop skills and enhance the service provided.
- The current hours of operation for the service are Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00, the special school nursing service works 52 weeks per year, including over the school holidays.
- Working with both health, education, and social care staff within the primary and secondary special schools in York, as well as short breaks settings, and in the child’s home.
- Writing reports, attending reviews, implementing evidenced-based care plans, health promotion, health screening, delivery of training and workshops, face-to-face support, advocating for the students, and liaising with families, professionals, and Local Authorities.
- Delivering health interventions to children with complex and profound physical needs.
