Role Description
The Specialist Advisory Teacher will provide expert guidance, support, and training to schools and educational settings across South Gloucestershire, with a base in Yate. In this full-time hybrid role, the postholder will spend part of their time working on-site in Yate and visiting schools, and part working from home to plan, prepare, and evaluate advisory activities. - Developing and modelling high-quality lesson plans
- Advising on effective teaching strategies
- Supporting staff to improve outcomes for children and young people

The role involves:
- Delivering training sessions
- Contributing to education improvement initiatives
- Collaborating with school leaders and multidisciplinary teams to address specific learning needs
The Specialist Advisory Teacher will also:
- Maintain accurate records
- Prepare reports
- Share best practice and resources across the council’s education network
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Education and Teaching, with a strong understanding of current curricula and evidence-based classroom practice.
- Proficiency in Lesson Planning and Training, including designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality professional development for school staff.
- Advanced Communication skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships, provide clear advice, and present complex information to varied audiences.
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent, with substantial classroom experience and a track record of improving learner outcomes.
- Experience in an advisory, coaching, or mentoring capacity within schools or local authorities is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, including the ability to manage a varied caseload and meet agreed deadlines.
- Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding, and equitable access to learning for children and young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Competence in using digital tools and online platforms to support hybrid working, training delivery, and resource sharing.
