Specialist Biomedical Scientist | Pathology | Private Hospital | Full-time 37.5 hrs | 12 month Fixed term contract | Southampton
Spire Southampton Hospital is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be expected to work in Haematology, Biochemistry, and Blood Transfusion, supporting a single departmental on-call service in all three disciplines.

Duties and responsibilities:
- As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Pathology, your role is to assist in the organisation, management, and development of services across a range of services provided by the laboratory.
- Liaise with the Laboratory Consultant and the Pathology Manager to ensure the provision of a high-quality service in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
- Analyse, interpret, and report information and knowledge related to ideas and concepts.
- Develop and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens and blood.
- Assist with research and development.
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information.

Who we're looking for:
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with no restrictions on practice.
- Experienced in either Blood Transfusion, Haematology, or Chemical Pathology.
- 2 years’ experience post-state registration is essential.
- Excellent communication skills.
Contract:
- 12 month Fixed term contract
Hours:
- Full-time, 37.5hrs per week, with a combination of earlies (6am start), lates (22:00 finish), and weekends (8am-4pm Saturdays & 9am-5pm Sundays).
You will be required to take part in the on-call rota outside of these core hours and must live 30 minutes from the hospital to be able to respond to urgent requests.
