About the Role

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has re-designed its Pathology services with new state-of-the-art equipment and a new laboratory, and with a new Lab Info Management System being installed later this year. An opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist within the field of Haematology and Blood Transfusion is now available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be highly skilled in the use of the latest techniques and complex instrumentation alongside more traditional manual methods of investigation.
  • Apply professional judgement and utilise specialist skills and knowledge to provide a timely result service to the clinician.
  • Be committed to formally maintaining their specialist skills and knowledge by appropriate training and self-education.
  • Support the development and training of registered BMS and associate practitioner colleagues.
  • Play an active role in maintaining high standards of quality management.
  • Take a lead role in a specific responsibility commensurate with a band 6 role.

Working Conditions

  • Provide a 24/7 diagnostic service.
  • Offer full-time hours covering day, evening, night, and weekends.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum IBMS specialist portfolio or IBMS accredited MSc.
  • Alternatively, a BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice.

If you do not meet this criteria, you may be offered a band 5 post with automatic progression to band 6 on completion of one of the above.
