Exciting Opportunity in Clinical Microbiology at King’s Mill Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Clinical Microbiology at King’s Mill Hospital for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and HCPC-registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated and professional team.

About the Role

We are seeking a committed individual with a strong interest in clinical microbiology and a passion for delivering high-quality diagnostic services. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a broad range of bacteriological, serological, and molecular microbiology investigations.
  • Contribute to the delivery of accurate, timely, and clinically relevant diagnostic results.
  • Identify and interpret clinically significant microorganisms.
  • Interpret antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
  • Support clinicians in the effective management of patients with suspected or confirmed infection.

Application Details

Applications will also be considered from HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientists currently working within diagnostic microbiology who have relevant experience and are in the process of completing the IBMS Specialist Portfolio. For candidates who have not yet completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio, the post will be offered at the appropriate Annex 21 salary in accordance with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
