Specialist Biomedical Scientist Band 6 / Trainee Annex 21 Paragraph 2 (ii)

This is an opportunity for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside.

Applications are invited from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in the Virology section of the Medical Microbiology Laboratory at Ninewells hospital who undertake 400,000 investigations per annum.

Requirements

  • HCPC registration
  • Completed an IBMS specialist portfolio in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent qualification recognized by the IBMS
  • Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to work Saturdays and public holidays

Candidates who have not completed an IBMS Specialist Portfolio will be considered for a trainee Band 6 (AfC annex 21 applies).

Working Hours

  • 9am-5pm Monday-Friday
  • Part of a rota for public holidays and some Saturday mornings
  • 36 hours per week

Training and Accreditation

  • The Department is approved by the Institute of Biomedical Science and NHS Education Scotland as a training laboratory
  • The department has UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189 standards
