Role Requirements
- Hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent)
- Registration to RCCP/AHCS
- Demonstrate BHRS/IBHRE Devices Accreditation
- At least two years’ experience at highly specialist level post completion of devices accreditation
Main Duties
- Perform a comprehensive range of cardiac diagnostic tests and procedures
- Interpret results and deliver precise, clinically relevant reports to support medical decision-making
- Support other healthcare professionals while fostering clinical excellence across the team
- Perform a broad range of procedures in the cardiac cath lab including diagnostic coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, right heart catheterisation, and PFO/ASD closures
- Support cardiac device implants monitoring ECG and intra-cardiac signals to ensure accurate lead placement
- Lead cardiac device follow-up clinics in line with BHRS guidelines, clinical governance standards, and local standard operating procedure
- Deliver high-quality testing, interpreting, analysis and reporting of all non-invasive cardiology tests
- Provide expert clinical leadership and specialist technical guidance in the implantation and follow-up of cardiac devices
- Act as a clinical role model, promoting evidence-based best practice to enhance care quality
- Demonstrate advanced communication skills to support patients and families and foster effective multidisciplinary collaboration
- Maintain and advance clinical standards in CRM through ongoing training, and CPD
- Maintain clear communication with the Clinical HOD and monitoring daily service delivery, recommending improvements and addressing clinical concerns promptly
- Oversee stock control procedures, including standing orders, maintenance contracts, and capital equipment procurement
- Contribute to the review and development of departmental and hospital-wide policies
- Lead clinical audits identifying trends and implementing service improvements; participate in wider Nuffield audit programmes
- Provide training, mentorship, and competency assessments for junior staff and other healthcare professionals
- Uphold departmental quality systems, including medical device management and maintenance, and respond effectively to cardiology-specific MDAs/MHRAs
- Contribute to the delivery of departmental workloads and deputise for the HOD during periods of absence
