In addition to developing your clinical knowledge and skills within the haematology specialism, in this role you will also have the opportunity to develop broad, highly valued skills across:

Provision of expert, high-quality, patient-centred clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. Note this service is predominantly the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) within haematology.

- Undertaking the role of an independent prescriber.
- Support the introduction of new and emerging treatments.
- Support trust medicines optimisation and medicines governance priorities.
- Support effective management of high cost drugs.
- Provide specialist advice to medical, nursing and pharmacy teams on all aspects of haematology medicines as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Undertake the duties of an ‘Authorised Pharmacist,’ taking responsibility for the final release of aseptically prepared injectable medicines, ensuring full compliance with legal, safety and quality standards.
- Support the education, training and development of pharmacy trainees and other healthcare professionals.
- Lead on service improvements and contribute to audit and research activities as part of our drive to continuously improve care for our patients.
- You will also be required to support the pharmacy dispensary weekend and pharmacist emergency duty service as part of a rota.
The Trust’s services are provided from three locations:
- The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.
- Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
- Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire.
