We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our county-wide Learning Disability Service, supporting individuals with complex health needs, challenging behaviours and mental health needs. This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist skills within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team while working closely with experienced clinical leaders. You'll benefit from regular supervision, ongoing professional development and the chance to make a real impact across Wiltshire.

Flexible across Marlborough, Chippenham, Warminster or Salisbury
Hours
37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern
Hybrid working model (approximately 60/40), dependent on individual and service needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Be professionally accountable for a designated caseload of adults with learning disabilities who present with profound and multiple disabilities, complex health needs, challenging behaviour and/or mental health needs.
- Undertake specialist occupational therapy assessments, interventions and reviews.
- Function as a key member of the integrated county-wide multidisciplinary Learning Disability Service.
- Contribute to the delivery and development of services in line with national learning disability strategies and best practice guidance.
- Delegate, supervise and support junior staff members within the service.
- Support the Clinical Lead with service prioritisation, planning and operational delivery.
- Contribute to clinical governance, service improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Deputise for the Clinical Lead as required, including responding to referrals, attending meetings and ensuring appropriate service cover.
Skills, Experience and Attributes
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist who can combine specialist clinical expertise with a collaborative and proactive approach to supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Essential Criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
- Proven post-registration experience within learning disability, mental health, community or related services.
- Experience supporting adults with profound, complex or challenging needs.
- Demonstrable experience of complex problem-solving and clinical decision-making.
- Experience conducting comprehensive clinical risk assessments.
- Strong occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills.
- Experience of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
- Experience supervising, delegating and supporting junior staff.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Strong communication, presentation and teaching skills.
- Ability to contribute to audit, quality improvement and service development activities.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities.
Desirable Criteria
- BAOT/COT membership.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications or specialist training.
- Leadership and management development.
- Experience teaching and assessing in practice.
- Experience prescribing specialist equipment and adaptations.
- Membership of a relevant professional special interest group.
