About The Team
The Major Incident Room (MIR) uses specialist skills to tackle serious criminality and complex investigations including murder, manslaughter, rape, kidnap, stranger abduction, blackmail, and fraud.
The MIR works with an enquiry team or assists other departments on large or complex investigations that require the assistance and support of HOLMES 2 application.
Most investigations involve the setting up of an incident room which becomes the base for a team of officers and police staff, dedicated to a particular investigation. All information which comes into an incident room is entered on the HOLMES 2 computer system, so it can be easily researched, retrieved, and compared.
About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Disclosure Officer position within the forces Major Incident Room (MIR).
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist unit at the forefront of major investigations, dealing with complex, high-risk, and high-profile police investigations.
Following a Critical or Major incident, MIR staff maybe called upon to support the investigation team and/or Casualty Bureau
Responsibilities
In this role, the Disclosure Officer will be responsible for:
- Assessing, summarising and scheduling all material gathered as part of an ongoing police investigation.
- Ensuring that comprehensive disclosure schedules are applied to the examination and revelation of all relevant unused materials, including the application of descriptions and relating to decisions of sensitivity of materials through use of the Holmes Major Incident Case Management System.
- Ensuring that all materials are disclosed in line with applicable legislation and guidance and work with the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in relation to any issues that might undermine the prosecution’s case.

Essential Criteria
As an applicant you should be either an;
- Experienced PIP2 Investigator (Police Staff Investigator or Detective Constable)
- Cilex Disclosure Trained (or equivalent)
- Experienced Investigator with Regulatory or Law Enforcement experience
With
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external partners and stakeholders and to build relationships
- The ability to plan, prioritise and organise your own workload, whilst adhering to national and local policies and procedures linked to disclosure obligations
- Good working knowledge of Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996
Desirable Criteria
- Holmes Trained or Holmes Experience
- Hybrid working
This Police Staff role adheres to Corporation of London’s hybrid working policy, which requires a 60% office attendance rate. The specifics of this will be discussed locally with your hiring manager if you’re successful for the role.
This role may require extended working hours and suspension of remote working, following critical or major incident.
The City of London Police is keen to promote flexible working and will, subject to operational policing requirements, proactively consider all applications to work flexibly.
Selection Process
The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework
