Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Dermatology doctor to work with an established team of five consultants within the dermatology directorate. The appointee will have clinical responsibilities at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton-on-Tees.
The post is for a permanent Specialist doctor to work independently at both sites and be part of the consultant on-call rota.
The post is advertised on 10 sessions per week, but consideration would be given to those wishing to work fewer sessions. The post holder will have 2.5 sessions at UHNT and the rest of the sessions at James Cook University Hospital.
Specialist with a subspecialty interest in skin cancer will be helpful, but other special interests will also be considered. Candidates will have opportunities to progress within the department in a SAS role, taking on various roles in service development, research, or leadership. If they wish to take on CESR, they will be fully supported to achieve relevant competencies. There is access to a supportive SAS team within the trust and a SAS tutor, along with a CESR SAS lead.

The department of dermatology provides a full range of outpatient services for patients with both inflammatory and malignant skin disorders and access to inpatient care. The department serves a population of 720,000, covering the Tees Valley and the contiguous parts of South Durham and North Yorkshire.

Specialist services include pediatric dermatology, genodermatoses clinics, joint vulval/gynaecology clinics, laser, patch testing, photodynamic therapy, and complex medical dermatology clinics.
The Trust offers mentors to all new appointees and any SAS doctor has support from the SAS lead of the Trust. CESR/Portfolio applications are encouraged by the department and the Trust. There is a Portfolio lead in the Trust that can guide and help with applications.
