I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The older child is at the start of secondary school. He needs someone who can teach him to read, write, and spell in a way that works for a dyslexic learner with ADHD, and who can keep sessions short, active, and structured enough to hold his attention.

The younger child is in upper Key Stage 2 and is showing the same difficulties with reading and spelling; his parents want him supported now rather than waiting for the assessment to finish. English comes first for both; maths support may be added later.

The family wants a consistent specialist who can build a daily rhythm with the children: a session every weekday after school and two hours on Saturday, with the time shared between the two of them across the week. It suits a tutor with regular late-afternoon availability who is happy to work at the weekend.

The role involves:

  • Delivering one-to-one sessions at the family home in Newnham, Cambridge, working with each child in turn
  • Assessing where each child is with phonics, decoding, spelling, reading fluency and writing, and building a structured, cumulative, multi-sensory literacy programme for each of them from there
  • Planning sessions that work for ADHD: clear structure, short chunks, movement breaks and regular wins
