Senior Specialist ICT Engineer

The Opportunity

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Senior Specialist ICT Engineer to join our team on a major data centre project in Dagenham.

Working as part of our specialist engineering team, you will play a key role in the delivery and coordination of ICT infrastructure, including fibre optic and copper networks, enterprise connectivity and the integration of intelligent building systems.

You'll work closely with Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting controls and wider MEP engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of reliable, high-performance network infrastructure across a technically complex project.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Supporting the delivery and coordination of ICT infrastructure across a major data centre project.
  • Overseeing the installation of fibre optic and copper cabling infrastructure, including network backbones and structured cabling systems.
  • Working closely with BMS, lighting controls and other specialist teams to ensure effective integration and connectivity across building systems.
  • Coordinating enterprise network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, IP networks and associated telecommunications systems.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and installation requirements to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Managing and monitoring ICT installation activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.
  • Supporting testing, commissioning and handover activities for ICT infrastructure.
  • Liaising with project engineers, subcontractors and wider MEP teams to resolve technical and coordination challenges.
  • Ensuring ICT infrastructure supports the operational requirements of smart building technologies and connected systems.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues relating to network infrastructure and system integration.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Proven experience in ICT engineering, telecommunications or network infrastructure delivery.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fibre optic and copper cabling systems, including installation, testing and commissioning.
  • Experience delivering large-scale ICT infrastructure within construction, data centre or other complex engineering environments.
  • Understanding of enterprise networks, structured cabling, Wi-Fi and IP-based connectivity.
  • Knowledge of how ICT networks interface with BMS, lighting controls and other intelligent building systems.
  • Experience coordinating specialist subcontractors and managing installation activities on site.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and network infrastructure designs.
  • Familiarity with relevant ICT standards, installation requirements and health and safety procedures.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary MEP project team.

Desirable Qualifications And Experience

  • Relevant engineering or ICT qualifications, such as HNC, HND, City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Industry certifications such as BICSI or Cisco CCNA.
  • Experience with large-scale fibre optic backbone networks and structured cabling installations.
  • Previous experience working on mission-critical or data centre projects.
  • Knowledge of smart building technologies and integrated building systems.

We would also welcome applications from individuals with a strong background in telecommunications, fibre network infrastructure or enterprise ICT who are looking to apply their expertise within the construction and building services sector.
