Specialist in Gastroenterology
The post is funded for 10 PAs. The post-holder will provide their expertise and work alongside Gastro consultant colleagues.
The appointee will join a department, which includes 8 Consultants with a wide variety of specialist interests. The creation of this new post is related to the need to meet requirements of waiting list targets, increased clinical activity and improving the quality and timely provision of specialist Gastroenterology service in this busy hospital department. The appointee will be expected to help see in clinic outpatient gastroenterology and liver patients. Additionally, the appointee will be expected to provide a full range of therapeutic endoscopy especially for achieving haemostasis. The appointee will provide a high standard of care to the Gastroenterology patients and give consultant opinion, guidance and advice on any patient referred to the department.

- Provide advice and day to day management of medical inpatients.
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients in medicine department in a senior role.
- To share with colleagues the responsibility to provide day to day management of the patients in ward.
- Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.
- To actively participate in both Departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- Responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME).
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To fulfil obligations relating to continuing medical education and professional development, appraisal and revalidation
